Weddings already cost a small fortune, so if you’re wondering how much to spend on groomsmen gifts, you’re not alone. How much you really spend depends on a few factors. Here are some things to consider when choosing how much to spend on a groomsman gift.
A good rule of thumb is to give your groomsmen a gift that costs about 25% of their output toward your wedding. Groomsmen may have to rent a tux (in the hot ass summer) and pay for other clothes and shoes, the bachelor’s party and travel and accommodations for an out of town wedding. Your bro's might have dished out $1,000+ for you.
Traditionally, the more expensive the wedding, the better the groomsman gift. For a budget-wedding, you could probably find gifts in the $25 to $50 range, but it’s your judgment. If your wedding is extravagant, you want your groomsmen to think you put thought into a gift that matched their time and energy.
Groomsmen do not sign up for a wedding to get a gift (most of them did so to try to bang a bridesmaid). Nor should you think of gift only in terms of cost. The best groomsmen gifts are those that have meaning and are personalized to each groomsman. You don’t have to give each groomsman the same gift although most of our customers order a batch of groomsmen gifts with unique personalization.
If you choose to buy different gifts for each groomsmen, the gifts should be similar in price. Now is not the time to show favoritism unless one of your groomsmen went above and beyond. The exception here is obviously the best man who should always get a unique gift, usually of a higher price.
